Chairman’s Message
By Abdool Razaak Hassim
Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah Ta’ala, our community continues to grow steadily, with new families joining our neighbourhood throughout the year. This growth is beautifully reflected in the many new faces we see at Musjidur Rahmah. We extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all our new residents.
We kindly encourage you to introduce yourselves to the GMA Management Team and ensure that your family details are recorded on our database, which is maintained by the Islamic Affairs Team.
Musjidur Rahmah has now entered its 21st year, with the Madressah building in its 23rd year. Some of the major areas where community contributions have been utilised include:
- Maintenance and repairs to the air conditioning system and boilers
- Courtyard roof waterproofing
- Upgrading of the wudu facilities
- Replacement of masjid musallahs
- General structural and facility maintenance
Our Madressah performed commendably last year, achieving encouraging results, and we are pleased to note an increase in enrolment this year. Efforts have been made to further enhance the learning environment, including the integration of digital learning tools.
We are also pleased to share that one of the properties opposite the masjid has been revamped to accommodate the girls’ hifz classes, while also serving as a venue for various ladies’ programmes and educational activities. In addition, the library and Dawah Centre has been established at the residence opposite the masjid.
During the past year, Alhamdulillah, we also had two highly successful Gaza / Palestine collections. We thank the community for your compassion, generosity, and unwavering concern for the Ummah.
May Allah Ta’ala reward you and your families abundantly for your efforts. Ameen.
Imaam’s Message: Avail Yourself to the Breeze
By Moulana Burhaan Mia
Pertinent to the month of Ramadhan, our beloved Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said in the Hadith narrated by Sayyidina Anas bin Malik (radhiyallahu anhu):
Do good deeds in the time that you have. Avail yourself (take advantage) of the gentle breezes of Allah Ta’ala’s mercies. Verily Allah Ta’ala has moments of gentle breezes from His mercy that He sends upon whom He wishes from His servants. Ask Allah Ta’ala to cover your faults and to protect you from your anxieties. (Al Mu’jam al Kabir 719)
Ramadhan is one of these gentle breezes of His mercy. There are ample opportunities of gaining His forgiveness and mercy through fasting, taraweeh, recitation of Qur’an Shareef, dua, sadaqah (charity), compassion, feeding, patience and abstaining from sin (taqwa).
The objective of fasting is to inculcate the quality of Taqwa. Taqwa means to obey Allah Ta’ala’s commands and to abstain from His prohibitions. While fasting we abstain from halal food and drink in order to train ourselves to abstain from that which is haraam (forbidden) at all times. Allah Ta’ala loves those who have Taqwa.
Imaam’s Message: The Blessed Month of Ramadhan
By Muhammad Ameen Ravat
As we enter the blessed doors of Ramadan, how should we enter? Some will bring high hopes and detailed plans. Some will bring excitement and big expectations. And some will bring nothing but broken pieces, and the quiet hope that Allah will put them back together.
But what if Ramadan wasn’t about the superheroes and marathon runners? What if Ramadan was in fact the refuge of the broken. The place where the “not-good-enough” could feel that maybe, just maybe they might still be accepted. And loved. And forgiven by Allah. Not because of them. But because of Him. His mercy. His Generosity. His Majesty.
As we enter this beautiful month, I remind myself and you, to seek Allah. Not a feeling. Not a checklist. Not even a “plan”. Have them all — the feelings, the checklist, the plans. But don’t get confused. Don’t get lost in the map and then miss the Destination.
Do what you can, but remember, it’s not by our deeds that we are forgiven or saved. It is by His Mercy and Grace. So strive. But when — not if — you fall short, never lose hope. Allah isn’t looking for perfection. He didn’t create us that way. Allah is looking for the return.
Let this Ramadan be a search for the Real, in an ocean of lies. Find what’s Real, and you will be saved. Go to Allah. Go as you are.
If you are lost, go to Him lost and let Him guide you. If you are low, go to Him low and let Him raise you. If you are broken, go to Him broken, and let Him mend you. If you are in grief, go to Him grieving, and let Him comfort you.
May the Almighty bless us with a spiritually uplifting Ramadaan and accept our efforts and prayers. Aameen.
