Alhamdulillah, our Association has historically been in a very healthy financial position with the regular and continuous support from the community and for this we say -Jazakallah.
During the past year we have experienced an increase in our maintenance cost as the masjid is now in its 10th year of existence and there has been the need to carry out some much needed major repairs. With our community continuously expanding and new people moving into our area the cost of running the facility has also increased. Recently, extensive renovations had been done to the house adjoining the Musjid to allow expansion of the Madrassah facility.
Alhamdulillah, a new Mussallah had beenopened in Roosevelt Park and this would cater for further growth of the facilities provided by GMA.Insha’Allah once the necessary approvals have been obtained a Masjid will be constructed on this site.
The GMA’s plan is to develop the property opposite the Masjid for future expansion. For this purpose,we need to commence on a fund raising drive so that we are in a position to progress on this plan and make the necessary acquisitions.
Masha Allah our Community is growing and with it, our cost base continuously keeps increasing. We would like to ensure that we are in a viable financial position to meet the expected level of service to ensure the smooth functioning of the GMA activities.
Historically we have received regular contributions from our community in the following manner:
a) Monthly Debit Orders and Monthly direct payments (preferred)
b) Friday Masjid collection
c) Ramadaan Contribution
In the past we have made regular appeals to the community to increase their monthly contribution. There has been good progress on this front,Alhamdulillah with many contributors increasing their amounts yearly and new people joining the list.
Alhamdulillah, we have also seen an increase in our Jumu’ahcollection. Unfortunately, this collection process does not enable us to ascertain which of our residents are contributing in this manner. We would rather prefer contributions made directly into our bank account, thus enabling us to plan better and budget accordingly.
Alhamdulillah, our community is blessed with nice homes, amenities and comfortable lifestyles – Shukar. However, it is with the concerns raised above, that the GMA has decided to have a separate Fund Raising Committee. This is not just to raise money, but rather to gear ourselves up with sufficient funds for the intended expansion to cater for the growing community’s needs. We make a humble appeal to every member of the community to make regular monthly contributions. We appreciate that times are hard and inflation is rife. All we ask is let’s make a regular monthly contribution to the House of Allah, like we do for all other things and Insha Allah this will also bring Barakaat into our lives.
To facilitate this process, the Fund Raising team members (see list here: Collection Team 2015 ) will be visiting every family in the area this Ramadaan to encourage you to make a regular financial commitment. This will be a challenging task so we make a humble appeal that you assist in this process by contacting them or meeting them in the Masjid if possible. If you are already a regular contributor, Alhamdulillah you may want to review your contribution. We would like to monitor the collection process especially for us to project expected income and understand the extent to which we can commit to future expenses. Our Madrasahs are self funded from fees charged to learners and statements are sent out regularly. We would like to urge parents to settle amounts timeously. We do experience a backlog of outstanding amounts at the end of the year which results in an unnecessary burden on the association.
Alhumdulillah the GMA Women’s Forum has had many fund raising events and these have been a great help towards adding to our revenue collection.
Regrettably GMA does not collect Zakaat. There are many other Organizations in the locality that specialize in the distribution of Zakaat; we would urge you to contact them directly.
If your contribution is for a specific niyaah (intention) please indicate that to the member of the fund raising team and they will ensure that an appropriate allocation is marked on the receipt.
